Sensational Cycling Saturday had its inaugural event on Saturday 12th March 2016 when almost 700 people attended. Sensational Cycling Saturday was established an astonishing five months before that when Denise Gladwell, Headteacher of St Breock Primary School Wadebridge, gathered together a room full of cycle enthusiasts and young people supporters. The room was electric with a can do attitude which only comes with people who are keen to share their passion with like-minded people and also welcome an opportunity to pass on their enthusiasm to others.

The first event would not have been possible without the support of the Police Cadets, Army Cadets, Rotarians, families and friends of the original core group. The core group worked tirelessly to overcome all difficulties and really make the day the huge success it was.

So who are we now?

We are that original cycle crazy group. A group of dedicated volunteers who are determined to ensure that cycling reaches as many people as possible from the very youngest, the wobblers, the mountain bikers, the cyclo crossers, the racers, the time trialists, the experts, the leisure rider, the list goes on. In fact if it involves fun on two wheels we want you to share that on Sensational Cycling Saturday.

Our aim is to make this FREE annual event a HUGE day in the cycling calendar. No, we might never rival The Tour de France but at least in Cornwall this will be the one event that EVERYONE can be involved in and that EVERYONE will want to take part in.
