Yesterday over 1000 people gathered at the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge for the third Sensational Cycling Saturday - the festival of all things cycling. The weather was superb with sunshine and low wind speeds.

Events like these do not happen without detailed preparation and planning and without volunteers would not have happened at all. Thanks to everyone.

The first event of the day was a sponsored bike ride in aid of Children's Hospice South West where every participant received a medal and a certificate.

Our exhibitors made the exhibition hall a busy and attractive market place and was just the place to be to join a cycling club, learn more about Sustrans, the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, the Tour of Britain, see and find out more about electric cars with West End Motors or buy a bike or two from our bike retailers, The Wadebridge Bike Shop and Clive Mitchell Cycles.

If learning to ride was the thing for you, Cornwall Cycle Training instructors worked hard all day to develop more confident riders in a safe, traffic free environment.

Irrespective of ability, preference of cycling mode or ambition the world of cycling appeals to everyone in one form or another. Cycling is a wonderful physical activity, even on on an e-bike. the feeling of being able to propel yourself under your own power, soaking in the atmosphere, admiring vistas or just pootling along having a natter with your pals, it just can't be beaten.

At SCS our aim is to cater for everyone, learn from the more senior cyclists, down to the youngsters there, assess everyone's  ideas and ambitions and basically "talk bikes".

Everyone enjoyed the thrills and spills of the British Cycling Registered races on the road course and the cycle-cross. Competitors aged from under 8 years to elite and all just as competitive as each other!

The RCS is the perfect venue in Cornwall to exhibit all those bikey things we love; it just can't be beaten. See you there 2019?

Following an inspection of the ground at the Royal Cornwall Showground yesterday and reviewing the spaces available for the cycling activities and parking it was felt that  health and safety issues had increased to an unacceptable level. It was with great regret that a decision was made to postpone the event to a new date of Saturday 29th September 2018. The weather in Cornwall, particularly, has not been ideal throughout the winter and spring and  with the Royal Cornwall Show only weeks away, it is vital that the showground is in first class order for this annual premier event.

The postponement until September, though inconvenient for so many of us, will mean that the event should be greatly enhanced not only by the weather and ground conditions but will sit well with the cycle-cross calendar, the road racing calendar and also the school term times.  We are already working hard to make sure that SCS3 in September truly will be sensational and our exhibitors, caterers and supporters have confirmed that they will be there. And so, it is all systems go! All we need is you all to come along to this new date and to bring along all your family and friends. Without your support it wouldn't be the same.

It's less than two weeks now to Sensational Cycling Saturday 3. Make sure you have everything planned for this exciting Spring  cycling event. Join in the sponsored cycle for Children's Hospice South West, have a go at our newly created Mountain Bike Trail, learn to cycle with Cycle Training Cornwall, take part in a British Cycling Road or Cycle cross race, visit our exhibitions - it's going to be an action packed day and there is something for every ability.

SCS3 is to be part of the South West Youth Series. Come along and witness what these young cyclists can achieve. They are bold, brave and very talented.

There has been a rush to grab the last few exhibitor spaces at SCS3. We have a range of exhibitors including, Wadebridge Bike Shop, Cranked Bikes, Halfords, Clive Mitchell Cycles. These cycle specialist retailers will be joined by West End Motors who are bringing along their award winning electric car LEAF. Come along and see what all our retailers have to offer.

Are you following the Spring classics on Eurosport? Are you looking forward to seeing the Tour of Flanders on Sunday? If you have answered 'Yes', then do not miss SCS3 on Saturday 21st April at the Royal Cornwall Showground. It's Cornwall's very own Spring Classic to kick off the season.
